Reflection IV

According to the career test, I’m said to have an INFP personality. To some extent, it is true because points like “Your career will be more important to you than ‘just a job'” resonates with me. I “hate conflict and take lengths to avoid it”, and I often dig deep into the perspectives of others, like why do they think what do they think.

Some career paths that would suit my personality as well as interests are:

A Musician. I enjoy playing music for a few reasons. First of all, the satisfaction of turning feelings into music. There is a reason and meaning for every rhythm and note, and it delivers a message from the composer. Also, from a song, I can learn so much about the person, the way he thinks, and even the historical setting behind it.

A Psychiatrist/Psychologist. This is a career more relevant to my studies now, which are sciences. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor that specializes in the treatment of mental disorders. A psychologist is someone who studies the mind and behavior, and uses psychological knowledge and research to solve problems, such as treating mental illnesses. For me this is a very meaningful career because, unlike the body, it is significantly harder to treat an illness “deep inside”. I could learn and apply the knowledge of how hormones or environmental factors play with a person’s emotions, but at the same time empathize and understand a patient’s feelings, and from there, help them to find solutions through changes in their behavioral patterns, the exploration of their past experiences.
